Day # 151: Day of our concert

#151
The rain came and the temperature fell.  We had rehearsal from 2 til almost 5 and then concert 5 to 7.  It was a beautiful concert.  So glad to be a part of it and so glad so many friends could come and celebrate it with us.

Day #150: A Day for a Brass Band

#150
I want to be able to give Edite back her computer in a bit.  Still haven't been able to print everything, but I will bring it all to be printed on Monday.

People gathered for a procession down street today to celebrate our friend Juanita's life.  I went and took pictures of the gathering.  They gathered at the Farmers' Market and the world was lush.  A brass band was convened and people began to line up; children and parents and grandparents and non parents.  People were dressed in colors and the purple iris on the Common were in full bloom.  There was a perfect breeze at 85 degrees.  Juanita was there.  I knew she was up in a tree looking down at this wonderful group of people.

Many of those getting ready to march are also in the concert tomorrow.  There is a lot of talk about how good the concert is going to be and how happy we all are that we are going to be in it.  Made me proud I was singing in a chorus.

I did not go on to the funeral/celebration.  Instead I came home to be alone, to create a plan to get out of this stuck spot that I am in.  I have all of this focus and direction, so I can't let logistics stop me anymore.  I need to fix my situation by Tuesday.

Day # 149: Short Update

Day # 149
Not back on, yet, but a friend lent me her laptop tonight so at least I can post something.  The sunset was stunning.  The day was beautiful.  It was not as humid today as the past couple of days, but some how I felt everything was falling apart around me.  It wasn't, but it appeared to be.  It has been 12 days since my computer blew up, it has been 10 days since my bumper fell off the front of my car, and I have not succeeded in fixing either.  Stumped.

Yesterday my mentor from college came and spent time with me and read part of what I have written on the book.  He read 3 of the stories and really got why I am so excited by the project.  These stories tell such an important bigger story.  I was thrilled to finally let someone else read what I have been holding onto and have it be as interesting to him as it is to me.  Very thrilling.

Day #148
I am supposed to hang a show on the 1st.  I have no idea how I am going to manage to do it.  Very confusing to have none of your normal tools available.  Tomorrow morning I will get up and try to print as much as I can and it may just have to be hung on Tuesday instead of Monday, or maybe both.

Day #147: Memory Lane

5/27/2010
I am not on a computer today that allows me to upload from my camera, so here is some memory lane.  These were all taken five years ago this weekend.

I panicked that night, 'cause I lost my brand new glasses on top of Poet's Seat.  But Kari and I went back and she found them immediately.

Tomorrow I will have a tablet to use so I can get back on track with everything.  It is an Apple, but I don't think I will have difficulty changing over.

This is Rachel.  We all love Rachel.  She died in a car accident last summer.  It was incredibly sad.  But in this picture she and Emma were playing with Emma's chickens and they were both very happy.  That was a really hot week.  We had a micro-blast that weekend and lost power for several days.  This week is hot, humid and the rain keeps just missing us so the plants are all screaming for water.

Day #146: Summer is Here

#146
Still no computer and word is that it is going to take longer than I figured.  Not a good situation.  But I wanted to remind everyone I have a show going up at Greenfields Market for the month of June.  I am a little worried about getting it hung on time because I don't have all the prints made yet and I don't have a computer from which to print.   I won't have the opening until about the third weekend.

Bernardston Farmers Market opens on Saturday at 10 am. I will be there.  I will be there with a much smaller inventory than I had hoped for the same reason listed above.  How did my life become so dependent on a computer?

I was told that we are in a five week period of Mercury retrograde and that Aries will be affected by the storm.  HMMMM.  couldn't have guessed that at all.....

Running out of time.....

Last night Kay and I watched the sun go down behind the Cove.  It was a lovely evening.

Day #143: It's A Beautiful Day, Lindy

#143

It's a beautiful day.  My friend Edite's garden is in bloom with poppies and irises and many other flowers and fruit trees.

I am hoping I may have a new computer this weekend sometime.  Everyone keep their fingers crossed.  Meanwhile, enjoy a few photos.

Day #142: 1 Year Anniversary of my Blog

And Jason Whiton's 50th Birthday.  I really did start this on Jason's birthday last year.  I had just begun the not successful Kickstarter Project to get this book up and running.   Here I am a year later with I'd say about 75% of it done.  I have learned so much in the doing, I am still excited by it and I am still amazed.   I did write my Indiegogo project this week and I hope it will be up and running soon.

Still no computer.  I am getting worried about this situation, but I know I will be back on, promise.  And when I am I will catch up on photographs, because I am taking them as I go along and I will post my fundraising push so the book can be completed.  Keep your fingers crossed that this comes together quickly and again, thank you for your support.

Day #140: Iris

#140
Edite's garden

Once again I am bumming the use of a computer.  It's getting a little worrisome because I have to hang a show in 10 days and have only printed a quarter of the pictures.  I haven't access to my pictures at the moment.  It is a little scary.

One thing that is good, I wrote two poems in the past week because I have time.

Day #139: Update

5/2010

5/2010  Guilford, Ct.

I can't upload photos onto anything today, but I can write.  These photos are from mid-May in 2010. I love the shot of the yellow iris.  I've always loved it.  I actually have a beautiful print of it if anyone is interested in buying it.  It is a 13x19 and I would sell it for $60.

I'm at the college trying to write up my Indiegogo proposal.  It's coming.  I think it will be ready when I have a computer to post it on.  Meanwhile I am writing in the library and the dark thunderclouds are rolling in and there are antennae or something on the other side of the building that look like spacecrafts getting ready for take off.  Very strange.

It is extremely strange to live without a computer.  I am so dependent on it, it is unreal.  Both my writing life and my photo life is attached to it.  And then there are the games......  That is the good part about this problem, I need to find something to do in free time other than to play games.  So hard, yet I did clean off a surface in my living room today.  I do have to laugh at myself.

Anyway,  I'll be back up in a complete way soon.  Promise.

Day # 136: Computer Crashed

5/15/10
5/16/10
This morning my computer blew up on me.  Had to happen, right?  So I am down at the community college using their computers and trying to figure out what I can do next.  These computers don't have  slots for memory cards, so I cannot download a picture from today.  But here are a couple from five years ago.

I don't know how close some of you are looking at these photos, but yes I have posted a few from the same day with Emma and chickies and ducklings and cat all together being affectionate on the same bed at the same time.  I'm telling you she is a bird whisperer and Valentine, the cat, is a saint.  Really, I am not kidding.

So I will continue asap, but it looks like I may have to take a break this weekend.  Timing is horrible...  and it does mess up my ability to correspond.   I will be back up and running soon......

Day # 135: Photographer, maybe

#135

After dinner I went down to the cove alone.  Two boys/men were baiting their hooks and talking about shooting.  One says to the other  I shot a moose yesterday, blasted him and then dumped him over the cliff.  Wish I could go to Africa and shoot  an elephant.

What do you do when you over hear that kind of statement?  Wrecked my tranquility.  Jerks.

My computer is still broken.  I wish I could just o out and replace it, but alas.  I have all of htis writing done in longhand.  Maybe I will go to the library tomorrow and type it all up because I may have the Indiegogo complete and I could post it.

I love this 2010 picture of Emma and Valentine.  I have a big print of it for sale for $60 if anyone is interested.   This week I saw pictures of mine in the newspaper and in a concert write up.  Fire Pond Music updated their website with my photos and some of my photos are being used in a public slide show tomorrow night at a benefit for the literacy program that I started with a friend 32 years ago.  Feels like a full circle moment to me.  Maybe as I work on being a writer my career as a photographer is taking off? Strange world we live in.
